By the end of the Aughts, Bmore’s national profile had exploded, as the massive successes of DayGlo digital composer Dan Deacon, dream pop phenomenon Beach House, psychedelic tunesmiths the Animal Collective, and (of course) HBO’s The Wire placed fresh media halogens on the otherwise humble – if famously quirky – burg. This week’s show presents cuts by some of the city’s best-known exports (the Collective, Celebration, Jana Hunter, Future Islands), almost-famous critical darlings (Wilderness, Santa Dads, Lake Trout, the Death Set), beloved indie lifers (Oranges Band, Double Dagger, Arbouretum), drum-drunk progressives (Teeth Mountain, Oxes), new and no wave gurus (Passiou, Rosemary Krust, Nuclear Power Pants), and post-hardcore torch-carriers (the Maginot Line, Landspeedrecord!).
